A LITTLE HELP, RIGHT HERE

Back to
the story.

Setup, small fixes, and a human you can contact.

Get started

The Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon. If you’d like to join the free beta, email us for access. Once you’ve installed the extension:

  1. Reload the Globoplay episode page.
  2. Enable Portuguese closed captions and press Play.
  3. Choose Start English in the NovelaBridge panel.
  4. Allow Chrome’s language pack to prepare, if needed.
  5. Keep Portuguese CC visible until three different captions match. English then starts automatically.

Use Subtitle appearance to adjust size and background. Stop English restores the original captions. Automatic continuation applies to supported next episodes and can be switched off.

Something not quite right?

It says “Checking synchronization”

Keep playback running with Portuguese CC visible. A paused video, silence, or a long music cue may not provide three different captions to check. If dialogue continues without progress, cancel and try again, or reload the episode.

The extension was just installed or updated

Refresh the Globoplay tab. Existing tabs can retain an older extension connection until reloaded.

Chrome cannot prepare the language pack

Use desktop Chrome 138 or later. The built-in Translator API must also be available on your computer; version alone is not enough. Check your connection and available disk space, then try Start English again. Managed-browser policies can restrict availability.

Chrome needs access to a subtitle source

Open the NovelaBridge toolbar popup. If it offers “Allow subtitle fetch” for an observed source, you can grant access to that origin. This is optional; declining may prevent that episode’s captions from loading.

English is missing or the translation looks wrong

Some caption formats, episodes, or translations are not supported. NovelaBridge may reject suspicious translations, leaving gaps. Try Stop English to return to the original captions and send us a report.

Subtitles are missing in fullscreen

Exit fullscreen, confirm English is working in the normal player, and re-enter fullscreen using the player’s controls. If that doesn’t help, use normal viewing and report the episode and Chrome version.

LET’S FIGURE IT OUT

Include your Chrome version, operating system, episode link, and what happened. The popup’s Copy diagnostics action omits dialogue from the copied caption fields. Inspect it before sharing.
